Planning Your Project

The Role of a General Contractor

A general contractor coordinates the trades, schedule, and decisions that make a renovation come together. The role is about organization and communication rather than any single craft. We discuss what your project involves and how the pieces will be coordinated before work begins.

What Project Management Adds

Project management is the connective work between trades: sequencing, communication, and keeping decisions on track. It is what keeps a multi-part renovation from feeling disjointed. How much active management a project needs is something to discuss with Chris based on the scope.

Sequencing the Work

Demolition, rough-in, finishes, and final details need to happen in a sensible order, and the trades need to be scheduled around each other. We talk through the sequence for your project so the work moves logically and the trades are not working against each other.

Attention to the Finished Result

Coordination matters most at the finish, when the details of several trades come together in the same space. A walk-through at the end of the project helps make sure the work meets expectations and the details get the attention they deserve.
